Socaholics Red Hot this year

RIGHT HERE WID Yuh. That’s the theme for this year’s Socaholic campaign which launched earlier this evening at the Ship Inn.

The seven-year old group based at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) invited staff, sponsors and the who’s who of the entertainment fraternity to take part in the start of what promises to be another exciting run.

When cropoverbarbados.com arrived 98.1 The One DJ and lead singer with Strategy the band Kirk Brown was interviewing some of the key players in the industry including Ian Estwick from Laff It Off. We also saw Mikey, Blood, Mr. Dale, Red Plastic Bag, Queen T and Redd Man preparing to perform.

Diane Forte, Marketing & Communications Specialist with the CBC says the Socaholics will be continuing their partnership with Wadadah and Celebration Time. They have also formed an alliance with Braddie’s Bar where they hosted the first of several Socaholic Souse and Soca Limes, the bar has also been named the official place for the after party.

“We know that after a fete or a show, people want some place to lime and get something to eat, “she told us. “Braddie’s is the perfect place for that, so for the entire season we are letting people know that Braddies is the place to be.”

The Socaholics and Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA)  are also hosting the Socaholic welcome from July 18 – 22. “That was well received last year, so we will be continuing it this year.”

Next weekend the Socaholics are sponsoring Outrageous in Red which features, Destra, Bunji and Fay-Ann Lyons at Kensington Oval.

The TV launch of the Socaholics is scheduled for Saturday at 8:02 pm on CBC TV 8. Tune into 98.1 The One on Friday for Red Friday when that station goes 100 per cent Soca.
