SOCA ARTISTE GORG will be moving out of his comfort zone for Crop Over 2010 – he is entering the arena of social commentary.

Speaking to cropoverbarbados.com at the launch of Anderson Blood Armstrong’s Soca Dons & Divas on which he has a track with Terry Mexican Arthur, he said he will still be offering some ragga soca and up-tempo tunes but he felt the time had come to get serious.

“I want to show people that I am trying to mature as an artiste. I just use to sing up-tempo music, then I went to ragga, I think the next chapter is social commentary…and it will be very biting.”

A member of House Soca, Gorg would only reveal the song is relevant to what is happening in society, he anticipates a good response, “I always loved music and I don’t do it for the money, because if I did I would’ve quit every since.”

With reference to last year’s hit Keep Drinks Coming Gorg said he did get some licks for the lyrics. “You have to drink some drinks, it is Crop Over and you got to relax yourself but I always push to tell people to drink responsibly, if you know you can’t handle the drinks, you see these [keys in his hand] pelt them in the wharf, give them to a friend, DO NOT drive home.”

Meanwhile, Salt who burned up the airwaves last year with the infectious See Me And Don’t See Me is not retreating from competition this year, “I want to see how it would feel to be at Bushy Park, I never went up Bushy Park yet.”

Also taking in Blood’s launch at the Flyover Bar he was also tight-lipped about his three offerings – two with Gorg and one produced by Kevin Bubbles Marshall. “I can’t really divulge much information yet, but the one with Gorg is bashment and the one with Bubbles is ragga soca.”

He is optimistic about this year’s festival, “This year is going to be big. Trust me. The music that come out for Trinidad Carnival really didn’t do much. I have been hearing some of the stuff and I am overwhelmed already. It is going to be big trust me.”
