Danielle Gibson new to Soca and oh so much talent

Danielle Gibson

"WHEN I PUT  on my armor, expect a surge of adrenalin in your body and witness the most exciting and spectacular performance from me. It's ALWAYS about show! ..."

Born on the 3rd of December, in the heart of sweet Bim Danielle began singing in church from the age of seven, it is there she honed that songbird voice.

On entering the Deighton Griffith Secondary school, she joined the Barbados Cadet Corps and from there she began singing at most of their functions as well those of the Barbados Defence Force. She also entered NIFCA in fourth & fifth form and won silver and bronze within a  two-year span.

Danielle went on to The Lodge School and formed a band with eight students both past and present, they entered NIFCA and won silver. The band also performed at the NIFCA GALA with the silver award wining piece, "No Woman, No Cry" by Bob Marley.

Her wide range allows her to carry reggae, pop, R&B, jazz and reggae ton and this is one of the reasons she got word of mouth recommendations from popular musicians and the public who heard her sing at national and private events.

She sang mostly at guests' houses, hotels, and tourists' requests functions, funerals and weddings and at one of the conventions for the alliance of the States and Barbados in St. Thomas U.S.V.I just last year, she was asked to perform the National Anthem of Barbados.

In 2006, she joined the now defunct band Kartizan, which performed at a Cadet Corps Band event, three Crop Over Cavalcades, Bridgetown Market, Tim's on the Highway and backed up in a tent as well. This was her first taste of Soca Music and she has been in love with it eversince.

“One of my biggest moments was singing and jamming Soca Music on the big truck in my second homeland St.Thomas U.S.V.I with Jam Band and a lot of artistes…never before had Soca music felt soooo good, I guess it was the truck feeling, that live feeling!”  she exclaimed.

As for her future, she noted.  “ I am looking for progression in any way that will place my music on the International Map as well as my homeland Bim…I sing most genres of music but my preference is Soca Music!”

Danielle is on the compilation CD Soca Dons & Divas produced by Blood.
